Edmonton Wedding Photographers | Nikky & Thomas’ Union Bank Inn & Polish Country Lodge wedding

{29th March 2014}

 We had a fantastic time covering Nikky & Thomas’ snowy, rustic & romantic Edmonton wedding back in March! We just delivered their luxurious leather album and duplicate albums for their relatives today. It was a complete joy to meet and then photograph Nikky & Thomas’ engagement session (which was featured on brand new Edmonton wedding Blog, yegwed today!) before witnessing their wedding at Union Bank Inn. We feel like they became friends as did their lovely families. They had a rustic reception at Polish Country Lodge, amidst great food, music, hockey themed games and a lot of hilarity.

Their wedding reception was also the first time that we tried perogies. Polish Country Lodge’s chef home made the perogies along with the rest of the delicious meal items that were served family style. Those perogies were melt-in-the-mouth, delicious morsels of food. I, Funmi, loved it so much that I immediately swapped my mashed potatoes for Adrian’s perogies (with his blessing, of course, haha). Sorry but they were so good that all the guests at our table ate them all before we could photograph them! On a related note, the staff at Union Bank Inn and Polish Country Lodge were exceptional in their warm welcome, smiles & professionalism.

Nikky shared some of their story with us:

“Thomas created a scavenger hunt for me. He left me a riddle at home to go to the first place we met: the Saville Center playing coed soccer. My friend Alicia was there to give me a second note asking me to head to where Thomas & I had spent our first Valentine’s Day: Build a Bear in West Edmonton Mall. Another friend of mine, Kerry met me there, where they had to stall a bit because apparently I was going too fast through my tasks and Thomas wasn’t ready 😉 The third note asked me to head to the place where we spent my birthday together: Seven Hills in St. Albert. Thomas’ sister Megan met me there and asked me to go home. Thomas had made me a nice dinner and after what seemed like hours, Thomas final got down on one knee and proposed.”

Nikky added: “We wanted a very personalized wedding. A lot of the little details were created by us. I made all the spicy peach salsa for our wedding favors, with help from my Nan who chopped up all the onions. Thomas created a wooden sign for the wedding reception and our picture display. My aunt, Darlene provided all the floral decor for the reception. My Mom knitted my capelet & my Bride’s Maids’ scarves. All the special little touches made their wedding unique. My Brother joined my Bride’s Maids as my Bride-elect, whilst Thomas’ female cousin joined his groom’s men as his Groom-elect.”

Congratulations again Nikky & Thomas!
