Study of Steampunk | Steampunk Study – Amanda Hamilton Interior Design

{June 11 – 12, 2015}

Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary | Amanda Hamilton Interior Design

A few weeks ago, we had immense pleasure and enlightenment about what it takes to be involved with an elaborate design setup and take down when we sponsored our dear friend, Christina of I-D Bohemia’s Dinner By Design tablescape!

Monogram Dinner By Design Calgary was a 2-day event that brought together Christina and 5 other Designers, who all designed distinctive tablescapes for attendees appreciate whilst enjoying cocktails and canapes on the first day, and then dinner on the second night. The event was a successful fundraiser organized by The Social Concierge for Alberta College of Art + Design and Contemporary Calgary. We will feature each of the 6 Designers in individual blog posts in the following weeks.

This week, we focus on Amanda Hamilton Interior Design, a boutique studio catering to tailored experiences within the luxury residential market and to clients in the commercial industry, with a focus on hospitality and retail design. AHID’s tablescape was called “Study of Steampunk | Steampunk Study”

Study of Steampunk | Steampunk Study

Creative Director & Visionary of AHID, Amanda explained the theme:

“William sits alone in his study. Flanked by eight empty bedrooms and the termination of a very long, dark hall, the space is dusty, and not entirely fir for entertaining. The remainder of his quiet homoe, and its furnishings, reside under a blanket of time and sun-stained sheets. It was insisted upon him that he host several of his closest friends to celebrate a recent discovery he had made in his field of study. Knowing that most of his colleagues hardly understood what it was that he did for a living, it was unlikely anyone would even ask about his work. With little time, he quickly clears off his desk and throws a lace tablecloth over its surface after piling his belongings along the wall in a fashion that only he would remember where they needed to return to. Among his guests were Playwrights, Poets, Professors, Scientists, and Engineers – while few of them had much in common, he knew the evening would be filled with excitable conversation, too much wine, and with William wanting everyone to leave so he could get back to his notes.

This is AHID’s exploration of “Steampunk”, a sub-genre of science fiction and fantasy, experimentation with early technology, aesthetic design, and futuristic examination of the 19th century British Victorian Era.”

Linens, sculpture, metal & paper goods, furniture, rugs, and other curiosities form AHID’s recently launched lifestyle collection. This will make it easier to achieve the Steampunk look for your wedding or event.DinnerByDesign-102_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-90_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-89_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-103_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-93_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-96_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-98_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-95_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-91_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-99_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-101_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-4_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-104_Image by FO PhotographyDinnerByDesign-15_Image by FO PhotographyAmanda Hamilton shares a joke with her team.
