The National Gallery London Surprise Proposal
Today has been amazing! I started with assisting the lovely Antonina Mamzenko on a shoot; Antonina was wonderful to work for and alongside. Her clients were so lovely. Then I met up with the hilarious Carla Thomas, a fellow wedding photographer, at the National Gallery in London. We had a great catch up over tea and cakes and it was as we were leaving the National Gallery that we heard a loud cheer from a nearby crowd in front of the Gallery.
They cheered because Yaw had just started his surprise proposal to Ekaete. He’d planned for their friends & family to hold up massive letters that spelt “MARRY ME”, had commissioned a videographer and a singer who played the guitar who all did their thing as he got down on his knees and produced the ring.
Ekaete was so overwhelmed with joy & love that she exclaimed: “YEEEEESSSSS!”

I showed the newly engaged couple these images and they loved them.
Ekaete & Yaw, congratulations on your oh-so-romantic proposal and now, start of your engagement! Carla & I are so chuffed that we got to witness it.
Right, off to e-mail these images to you.

[…] I felt so blessed – not only that I have a fiancé that would go into that much effort, but that our friends were all involved. Even when I called my dad in Nigeria to let him know I found out he knew too! Yaw had asked him for his permission when he was last in town the month before. In fact, my baby is so good, that even the stuff that wasn’t planned fell into place. While he had a videographer sorted (yes, Jide was indeed filming me for my reaction – the final video is still being edited and I will post that up soon), he didn’t have a photographer. As luck would have it, Funmi and Carla were at The National Gallery and managed to catch my extra special moment (see their blog post here). […]
[…] side note, whilst there, we thought it’d so cool to do an engagement session or photograph a surprise proposal at Candy Cane Lane without disturbing the other visitors! If you’re planning either of those, […]
